Winter seems to have been a short one, particularly in the Middle East, I am welcoming spring with open arms. I have been busy preparing for the new season and am ready to share new trends and colors that we are likely to see in the coming months. Of course, it isn’t all about buying everything new; indeed I have many a trick up our sleeve to help you work with what you already own. A couple of new pieces, a refresh of accessories, and maybe a new pair of shoes is really all you need.

Mustard For Months

A surprising color for this season is mustard. Indeed, spicy mustard according to Pantone, but I expect to see all shades of this traditional autumn color. It’s a really versatile hue for anyone with a warm and golden look. Wear it with khaki, warm up your flat neutrals such as navy, or clash with terracotta. Enjoy it now and carry it through to autumn! Those with a cooler skin tone may wish to swerve mustard above the waist and save for shoes or trainers

Recognising Quality

Investing in quality doesn’t necessarily mean spending £££s. I encourage my clients to buy less, but buy better; it’s kinder to the environment and in the long run, your purse. Invest wisely in clothes that you purchase and they will serve you well. Here are my top tips to recognise quality:1) Seams should lie flat and not pull
2) Hemlines should be flat and even
3) Linings or facings must lie flat and not show
4) Buttonholes should be neat with no loose threads
5) Prints should ideally line up at the seams
6) Natural fibres are far superior to man-made
7) Stitching should be neat and even

Handbag Essentials

When buying a new bag, do you consider its size and where it will sit on your frame? This is something that I cover during a style consultation  and there’s quite a lot to talk about! For example if you are heavier on your bottom half, try to avoid bags that sit on your hips, as this will draw the eye to them. Similarly, if you have a fuller bust, you may want to swerve a cross body style – the strap will certainly do you no favours!
