By the end of this month, our heads will be turned by brands showcasing their upcoming autumn colors and trends. It’s not unusual to see someone sitting by the pool flicking through a magazine full of light knits, trench coats and ankle boots. The sheer volume of information out there can be confusing. I say, enjoy that sun lounger and leave it to me to do the hard work. I will of course, be running my seasonal trend events, so look out for these in September and October.

ALL WhiteWhite, though not the most vibrant of colors (some physicists may argue it’s not a color at all!), but it is an important one in many of our wardrobes. Pure white can often be too stark, draining natural skin tones, instead of complementing them. Soft white, however, offers a more forgiving alternative. It retains the purity of white without casting a harsh blue undertone onto your skin, making it a gentler and more flattering choice.

Tip: Pure white can appear softer in certain fabrics – a weave deflects the light which softens the overall look.

Tall But Petite In ScaleIf you are tall but petite in scale, you will no doubt be faced with shopping challenges. Here are a few tips to help you on your way. The benefits of these tips are that they create visual interest, break up vertical lines and can give the illusion of curves.

  • Color blocking
  • Horizontal stripes
  • Layering
  • Textured Fabrics
Dare to Bare
One shoulder tops are stealing the limelight this season. Diagonal lines can have a slimming effect, so shouldn’t be discounted if you are heavier on top. It’s important to get a good fit; if you carry weight around your tummy, choose tops that are looser across the mid-section. Be careful if you have a full bust as they may not be flattering. They also work well on Rectangle body shapes as the silhouette is very feminine, giving the illusion of curves. And, don’t put them away at the end of summer as they make great party tops in the festive season.

Up Your Game
The finishing touches can take your outfit from nice to fabulous. This is when jewelry comes into its own, as it will elevate the simplest of outfits. It’s also a way of expressing your own style. Big and bold, or neat and chic; let your individuality guide you. I encourage clients to update their outfits each season as opposed to buying everything new, and accessories are excellent ways to breathe new life into old clothes. Now is a good time to seek out a bargain; this colourful beaded necklace is currently half price from Accessorize.
